My parenting seems to be a mixture of modern studies, traditional natural/responsive parenting, with a mixture of more typical chinese culture parenting.
The other evening, my Kbao was crawling around his room after a ball (i think. for the sake of this story, it doesn't actually matter). It went behind the adult rocking chair.
He could see it through the bars of the chair. He tried to reach for it under the seat. Couldn't make it.
So he went around to the left. Crawled towards the ball. Not enough space.
Remember, this is a rocking chair? I could see a more chinese me say, "Let mama get it..." So he doesn't hurt himself. He might lose balance if he pulls himself up on a rocking chair. He might squash his precious little hand if the chair rocks on it. But I didn't do any of that. I just kept watching.
He looked towards the other side of the rocking chair. More space.
Kbao purposefully crawled to the other side of the chair, around, to behind the chair. And brought his ball back out to play.
Word. This baby just problem solved completely on his own. No prompting. No (immediate) scaffolding. He's a genius. haha :)
All parents are like this right? Everything their kids achieve is the most amazing, miraculous, greatest thing on the face of the earth... #oneofthoseparents
At the pumpkin patch this weekend
His whole outfit (hand me downs) was too big
It worked
He couldn't even crawl over the boots
hahahaa

Just wait til he takes his first step, or says his first "I love you Mommy." Every kid *is* a genius when you consider how far they develop from a slobbering, crying baby blob to a walking, talking, thinking person. God does incredible work!
